adapter.py is over the 2000-line target and frozen at its main size by the code-health ratchet; the local import + named context variable grew it by 3 lines. A module-level import and calling the cached accessor at each use site (it returns the same identity) keeps the change net-zero, and the test now patches the name where production reads it.
