When this install is the selected negotiator (under the gateway, Desktop's backend or the dashboard), a Bun child from PATH runs the pinned bundle with that server's environment and drives your Hermes model over a loopback bridge; the plugin mints INDEX_API_KEY from the session if it is missing, saves it to the Hermes env and registers the Index MCP server in config.yaml. API traffic goes to protocol.index.network. Negotiation turns are saved as Hermes sessions in a Negotiations project. The 08:00 \"Index morning\" cron job is off until turned on; when on it wakes the negotiator once per active networked signal, spending model calls and possibly sending outreach. The desktop half ships as desktop/plugin.js and stays off until enabled."
