ce49cdbc59 merge: reconcile upstream main with pm audit closeout
Merge upstream 5e645791ac.

Retain the PM feature-flag owner and add upstream connection options.
Use the deny-only window-open policy while trusted external links keep
the existing IPC path. Keep both session-import and external-link copy.
Preserve captured timeout output when adding terminal yield handoff.
Quickstart tests patch the explicit upstream model-assignment owner.
Migrate incoming legacy OS markers to the branch's platforms gate.

Desktop renderer and Electron typechecks passed. Targeted Electron tests
passed (42 tests), Python conflict checks passed (26 tests, 3 skips),
and the plugin-compat import checker passed. CI owns the broad merge gate.

feat(nous): anthropic_wire=auto picks the session's wire from the first response's upstream (gated until GMI native is measured)

45646f4d09 feat(nous): anthropic_wire=auto decides a session's wire from its first response
Portal will serve anthropic/* from more than one upstream (OpenRouter
passthrough today; GMI/Vertex once it is back online). The native Messages
wire is the better transport but is only safe where the upstream keeps
prompt-cache routing sticky: measured false on the OpenRouter path (14-20% of
consecutive calls re-write the previous turn; #104284 moved the default to
chat), untested on GMI. Hermes cannot see the upstream in the request, only
in the response: OpenRouter stamps `provider` (chat wire) and mints
`gen-<unix>-<rand>` ids; GMI/Vertex returns Anthropic-native `msg_...` ids
and no provider.

`auto` therefore starts every session on chat (correct on both upstreams),
classifies the first response, and switches that session to native only
when the upstream is GMI AND `agent/nous_wire.py::GMI_NATIVE_WIRE_CLEARED`
is True. The switch is scheduled at response time and applied at the start
of the next iteration (turn_iteration_prep), so nothing is rebuilt while a
response is being consumed; it goes through switch_model so the client,
cache policy and _primary_runtime stay consistent. One decision per session,
call 1 only; unknown upstream never switches; a failed switch logs and stays.

GMI_NATIVE_WIRE_CLEARED is False: until the 20x6 concurrency probe
(evals/postmortem/live_ab) is clean on a GMI-served anthropic/* id on the
native wire, `auto` behaves exactly like `chat`. Flipping it is the whole
rollout once GMI is measured. Default stays `chat`.

Tests (17): classifier on real Portal response shapes from both wires and
both upstreams; chat for openrouter/unknown, GMI gated on the flag; one
decision per session, call 1 only, explicit chat/native never auto-switch,
other providers/models untouched, switch failure swallowed and final;
record_response_usage on a real AIAgent invokes the hook once.

Live (auto, real Portal, Fable 5.1): arm A, real classification
(OpenRouter today) - stays on chat through a tool loop and a second turn,
cache 97-99%. Arm B, classifier forced to gmi with the flag on - call 1 on
chat, switch applied before call 2, calls 2-3 on the native wire in the
same session, tool result and both turns correct, cache 97-99%. An earlier
shape that switched inside the response path broke call 1 (SimpleNamespace
has no .content); the scheduled apply is why.

5106e939e0 fix(tui): heartbeat ticks share the /loop idle poll and rewind when no turn starts
Folds the /heartbeat driver into the existing /loop poll slot (one cadence, one
try/except table) and closes the consumed-tick gap: a dispatch that raises OR is
refused by _admit_prompt_turn (returns False) releases the session claim and rewinds
the persisted fire via HeartbeatManager.abandon_fire(), so the tick stays due for
the next poll instead of advancing fire_count with no turn. abandon_fire refuses to
overwrite a pause/resume/clear that landed between claim and dispatch (mirrors
LoopManager.abandon_tick). Tests use the real SessionDB under a temp HERMES_HOME and
drive the poller loop itself; docs note the TUI/Desktop surface.

Rollback-on-failure idea credited to jerrygooch (#104011, 51df1ed4d04 / 283fa972169);
the driver placement is Halldrix's (#102118). Reported in #102056 / #103044 (Vksh07).

028fe2c4c8 feat(delegation): per-task completion groups — ungrouped subagents return as they finish
A background delegate_task call used to be ONE async unit: the runner joined on
every child and a single consolidated message re-entered the conversation when
the SLOWEST finished. Fifteen independent PR reviews therefore waited on the
fifteenth before the parent could act on the first.

Each task now carries an optional `group`. `_units_of` partitions the call's
children into units — one per distinct group, one per ungrouped task — and each
unit is dispatched to the async registry on its own, so its results re-enter the
conversation as soon as THAT unit is done. Tasks that must be compared or merged
share a group and still return together.

Capacity is unchanged: every unit of one call joins the first unit's pool slot
(`slot_key` in `async_delegation._dispatch`), so splitting never consumes more of
`delegation.max_concurrent_children` than the call did. Unit ids suffix the
call's id (`deleg_xxxx-1`, `-2`, …) so live transcripts stay under one dir; the
completion block names the group and notes that sibling units report separately;
`active_task_count` counts a unit's own tasks.

54e24ae1fa fix(nous): route anthropic/* over chat/completions by default (nous.anthropic_wire)
Portal serves anthropic/* on two routes. The native /v1/messages wire, which
Hermes has used since 02d5e23085, re-writes the previous turn's prompt cache
on 14-20% of consecutive calls in concurrent tool loops; the chat/completions
route does not. Measured 2026-09-06, 20 concurrent sessions x 6 tool calls on
Fable 5.1, same account, same hour, same first-party pin:

  Nous /v1/messages 180 pairs, 25 stuck (13.9%); 3 earlier 40-session
                             runs 15.0 / 17.3 / 20.2%; unchanged by the pin
  Nous /v1/chat/completions 320 pairs (2 runs), 0 stuck
OpenRouter direct, pinned 161 pairs, 0 stuck

"stuck" = cache_read on call k+1 equals cache_read on call k instead of
call k's prompt size: the last write was not visible, the turn (~28K) was
written twice. Every stuck pair had byte-identical system, tools and
per-message shas, so it is not client-side mutation. At $10-20/M for
cache writes that is 15-20% of a fan-out's write bill.

The cause is inside the portal's native route (every element of its
outgoing request reproduces clean from outside; NousResearch/api#227
carries the diagnostics). Until it is fixed, anthropic/* rides
chat/completions. nous.anthropic_wire: native opts back in. Cost of
chat: prior-turn thinking travels as OpenAI-style reasoning fields, and
cache_control scopes are translated by the portal's adapter.

Tests: new test_nous_anthropic_wire_default.py reads the knob through the
real config loader in a temp HERMES_HOME and through
resolve_runtime_provider (both settings); the existing native-wire
contract suite selects native via an autouse fixture so the wire keeps
working for the flip-back. Live: a real AIAgent on this branch,
provider=nous + anthropic/claude-fable-5.1, dispatches to
chat/completions with the session_id intact.

Follow-up to the salvaged contributor commit: the Gemini and Vertex guide model
tables now list both Flash generations the pickers offer, and an invariant test
ties the OpenRouter/Nous curated google/gemini-*-flash entries to (a) a Google
official-docs pricing row on the direct Gemini and Vertex routes and (b)
membership in the direct gemini/vertex picker lists. Red on main
(gemini-3.7-flash -> unknown), green with the contributor commit.

bc31e04d83 fix(telegram): strip our handle only as sole addressee; keep the identity line session-stable
Two corrections on top of the mention-preservation pick:

- Stripping our own trigger handle from every group message was replaced by never stripping
it in groups, which broke the pre-existing contract that `@bot 2` answers a pending clarify
prompt and `@bot ok` approves (the intercepts match the exact stripped text). Strip only when
no other participant is named; when other bots/users are mentioned the text is kept verbatim
  so `@research_bot , @ops_bot …` no longer arrives as `, @ops_bot …`.
- The addressing block carried a per-message fact ("explicitly mentions you: yes/no") inside
`channel_prompt`, which is part of the cached-agent signature: a mention turn followed by a
reply turn rebuilt the AIAgent (prompt-cache miss) every time the shape flipped. Keep only
the username line, byte-identical for the life of the session.

Tests rewritten to pin both contracts (sole-addressee stripping; identical channel_prompt and
agent signature across a mention turn and a reply turn).

0a195aa463 docs: provider_routing is OpenRouter-only; Nous Portal rejects the provider object
Portal decides routing centrally per model and returns HTTP 400 on any
caller-supplied `provider` object (live-confirmed). Drop the five "OpenRouter or
Nous Portal" claims from the provider-routing page and say plainly that the
setting is ignored on Portal now that the profile no longer forwards it.

12871bd01e feat(openrouter): per-model provider_routing.models.<id> overrides
`provider_routing.models.<model-id>` now takes the same only/ignore/order/sort/
require_parameters/data_collection keys and overlays the flat provider_routing
values whenever the agent is on that model. Resolution lives in the one
chokepoint every request path already uses (_provider_preferences_for_agent),
so CLI, gateway, TUI/Desktop, cron, /model switches, fallback activation and
delegated children on another model all honour it with no per-surface plumbing.
Matching is spelling-tolerant, sharing _canonical_model_variants with
agent.reasoning_overrides.

The OpenRouter profile's speed-tier pin no longer overwrites an explicit user
`only` on the BASE gpt-6-astra slug: the pin exists to keep default routing off
flex/fast, and a user pin is the stronger intent (only: [openai] stays [openai]
instead of becoming [openai, azure, azure/us]). Tier slugs (-fast/-flex) keep
owning `only`.

Live A/B (config only: {gpt-6-astra: [openai], claude-fable-5.1: [anthropic]}):
main sent {"sort":"price"} for fable and OpenRouter served it from Azure; with
this change it sends {"only":["anthropic"],"sort":"price"} and Anthropic serves it.

Schema proposed in #24495 (samplesabotage) and #100711 (Artemonim); this is a
slim chokepoint implementation of that design.

92686159d1 fix(pm): integrate audited runtime and lifecycle repairs
Prepare dependency generations before selecting them. Keep shipped tool
bytes separate from writable additions, and store facts beside their entries.
Validate proposed plugin sets before config publication. Restore the previous
config if the facts write fails.

Consolidate duplicate updater, backup, setup, and voice helpers. Repair
launcher selection, dependency consumers, download ownership, update feeds,
and native Windows process and file handling.

Verification: 206 changed/prior-failing Python files reported 4630 passed,
one failed, and 330 skipped. Fix the remaining Hindsight fixture boundary.
The final targeted rerun reported 234 passed and two skipped. The store
review regression batch reported 83 passed and one skipped. Desktop
TypeScript checks, 56 selected Electron tests, 24 release tests, and the
removed-import/compatibility guards passed.

This is an integration checkpoint, not full audit acceptance. The complete
Python suite has not run on this fixed tree. Crash-atomic plugin publication,
generation cleanup, receipt correlation, and packaged lifecycle acceptance
remain open in docs/pm-audit-status.md.

245e48008f fix: listing surfaces show the merged view for MCP servers named like built-in toolsets
get_all_toolsets() copied static TOOLSETS entries verbatim, so /toolsets and the
dashboard showed only the built-in tools for a colliding name even though
get_toolset() now unions the MCP alias in. Route those names through
get_toolset() and document the alias/collision behaviour.

4dc9988f78 feat(skills): reddit-reading and rss-feeds bundled skills, multi-platform sweep guidance
Two zero-install research skills plus routing guidance, ported as ideas
(not code) from the Agent Reach skill's per-platform backend routing.

reddit-reading (skills/social-media): subreddit listings, site/subreddit
search, threads with comments, user pages. Live-verified from a datacentre
IP: www .json, api.reddit.com, old.reddit, r.jina.ai and the browser tool
all return 403 / an empty shell / a humanity check; the Atom .rss endpoints
are the only anonymous path and are throttled to ~1 request/min/IP. The
script waits out the x-ratelimit-reset window once and retries, and
switches to the OAuth API (scores, nested comments, ~100 req/min) when
REDDIT_CLIENT_ID/SECRET are present. `doctor` reports the active backend.

rss-feeds (skills/research): RSS 2.0 / RSS 1.0 / Atom / JSON Feed parsing
with UTC-normalised dates, --since/--limit, and feed discovery behind a
page URL (<link rel=alternate>, then well-known paths). Stdlib only; the
optional blogwatcher skill remains the stateful many-feed reader and now
points at this one for one-off reads.

grounded-citations gains a "Multi-Platform Sweeps" section routing
"what are people saying about X" tasks across web, Reddit, feeds, video,
code and X with per-platform attribution and coverage-gap reporting;
competitor-news-monitor references the new sources.

Tests: two invariant tests per skill (format normalisation + discovery;
anonymous 429 handling + OAuth routing/flattening), no network. The
reddit test caught a real bug: the feed footer's "/u/author" leaked into
post bodies.

463292351f fix: mid-turn user message no longer waits behind a foreground terminal command
A message typed while the agent runs (CLI busy_input_mode=interrupt, gateway
priority redirect, ACP redirect) goes through AIAgent.redirect(). During tool
execution redirect() degrades to steer(), whose delivery rides the tool result
— so a long foreground command (a `sleep 285` CI poller, a build) parked the
user's message until it exited. The UI printed "Redirected current turn" while
nothing happened for minutes.

redirect() now also asks the tool workers to YIELD (tools/interrupt.request_yield).
The local terminal backend's wait loop honours it: the drain thread is stopped, the
still-running Popen is adopted by the process registry as a notify_on_complete
background session (ProcessRegistry.adopt_local — output so far seeds the buffer,
the registry reader continues from the pipe), and the tool returns immediately with
status "yielded_to_background" + session_id. The command is never killed; the
completion notification arrives as usual and process(poll/wait/log/kill) work on it.

Non-local backends and internal env.execute() consumers pass no yield_handler and
are unaffected; a stale yield bit is cleared with the interrupt bit per worker tid.

21bcd0ce6c chore(models): OpenRouter and Nous pickers drop the undated deepseek-v4-flash in favor of the 0731 snapshot
The bare deepseek/deepseek-v4-flash slug is the pre-snapshot release; both
aggregators now carry deepseek-v4-flash-0731 (and Nous exposes the rolling
~deepseek/deepseek-v4-flash-latest alias). Keeping both rows in the curated
picker just duplicates the flash tier.

- OPENROUTER_MODELS (derives the nous list): drop deepseek/deepseek-v4-flash
- model-catalog.json regenerated

Deliberately KEPT: alibaba-token-plan / opencode-go / commandcode / deepseek
direct plugin fallback_models + default_aux_model (bare id is the wire slug
those providers serve), DEFAULT_CONTEXT_LENGTHS / reasoning floor / pricing
snapshot entries (manually-typed id still behaves), and the
deepseek-chat/deepseek-reasoner -> deepseek-v4-flash alias normalization.

d20a8e4475 feat(models): OpenRouter, Nous Portal, and Alibaba Token Plan pickers carry Qwen3.8-Max-0902
Alibaba shipped qwen3.8-max-0902 (alias qwen3.8-max-2026-09-02), the upgraded
snapshot of Qwen3.8-Max: 1M context / 131K output, $2 in / $6 out. Both
aggregators now serve it and dropped the bare slug from their catalogs
(verified 2026-09-02: OpenRouter /v1/models + a 200 completion echoing the
slug; Nous Portal /v1/models).

- OPENROUTER_MODELS (feeds the nous list too): qwen/qwen3.8-max -> qwen/qwen3.8-max-0902
- _ALIBABA_TOKEN_PLAN_MODELS: qwen3.8-max-preview -> qwen3.8-max-0902
- test_empty_model_fallback fixture follows the nous catalog slug
- model-catalog.json regenerated

No new metadata: DEFAULT_CONTEXT_LENGTHS substring-matches qwen3.8-max (1M),
reasoning floor prefix fires (180s), both aggregator routes bill via
official_models_api. alibaba/alibaba-cn/opencode-go/setup.py left unchanged
(out of scope).

f159e581c7 feat(models): add GPT-6 Astra + Astra Pro with fast/flex speed tiers to Nous Portal and OpenRouter
Six slugs land in the nous and openrouter curated lists, above the gpt-5.6 line:
openai/gpt-6-astra{,-fast,-flex} and openai/gpt-6-astra-pro{,-fast,-flex}.

Nous Portal serves the tiers as distinct slugs (verified live: each echoes its id, service_tier
default/priority/flex, cost 1x/2x/0.5x). OpenRouter serves them as ENDPOINTS of the base model
(tags openai/fast, openai/flex) and silently routes an unknown suffix to the standard tier at
standard price, so the OpenRouter profile rewrites a tier slug to its base wire model and pins
provider.only to that tier's endpoints (OPENROUTER_ENDPOINT_PINS). The base slug is pinned to
openai/azure/azure-us so default routing never lands on a flex or fast endpoint.

Provider-agnostic metadata: one DEFAULT_CONTEXT_LENGTHS entry (gpt-6-astra: 1,050,000, live on
OpenRouter for both models; substring-matches -pro and the tier suffixes). Pricing is skipped:
both routes bill via official_models_api. Reasoning floor not added (no evidence of long thinks).

13e72fb205 Merge pull request #102986 from NousResearch/fix/browser-exec-packaged-chromium
browser_exec local mode drives the packaged Chromium instead of the user's Chrome
2026-09-04 08:42:27 -07:00
Teknium
9e13ac2f01 fix(browser): browser_exec local mode drives the packaged Chromium, not the user's Chrome
Symptom: with Browser Use mode (the default) and no cloud provider / CDP
override, browser_exec left BU_CDP_* unset, so the browser-use harness ran
its own local discovery — hunting for the user's INSTALLED Chrome on its
default profile. That path needs the chrome://inspect remote-debugging
toggle plus an "Allow remote debugging?" popup per run, is blocked outright
on Chrome >=136, and on a headless host (or one without Chrome) fails with
"chrome-not-running: no supported Chromium-family browser is running". The
built-in browser_* tools never had this problem: they drive the Chromium
Hermes installs, launched through agent-browser.

Change: `_resolve_backend_cdp` step 4 becomes the local ENGINE —
lightpanda when configured, otherwise `_resolve_managed_chromium_cdp`,
which runs `agent-browser --session <key> get cdp-url` through the legacy
`_run_browser_command` (Chromium preflight/auto-install, per-key session
cache, inactivity reaper, atexit) and exports the returned ws:// endpoint
as BU_CDP_WS. Each cache key (task, or bu-named-<session>) gets its own
Chromium, so named sessions are private and skip the own-tab preamble.
Running `get cdp-url` on every call also refreshes agent-browser's idle
timer (it never sees the harness's direct CDP traffic) and follows a
relaunch after the reaper closed the browser.

Live: before, browser_exec on origin/main → exit 1 "chrome-not-running";
after → new_tab/page_info succeed on a cold start, warm reuse, post-reap
relaunch, and a named session; a missing Chromium surfaces the install
hint instead of the harness's Chrome hunt.

8924b3aed9 fix(skills): lead the lesson-layer contract with the primary purpose — how to do the task, to the user's specifications 2026-09-04 08:15:22 -07:00

c240e65399 fix(skills): self-improvement writes lessons, not incident logs
The skill review fork, the combined memory+skill review, and the curator's
consolidation pass all described references/ as the place for
"session-specific detail", and the curator's demote step said to move a
sibling's file under the umbrella. Followed literally over months that
produced one dev skill with a 100k SKILL.md dense in PR numbers and 443
one-per-session reference files, plus five sibling skills restating the
same rules and the repo's AGENTS.md.

The three prompts now share one shape contract: an entry is an imperative
rule plus one clause of why, stated once; no PR/issue numbers, dates, or
quoted chat as content; references/ is a small topical set extended in
place, never a per-session file; skills do not restate always-loaded
context. Consolidation is defined as distilling, and copying a sibling
verbatim under references/ is named as the failure. skill_manage's schema
carries the one-sentence version.

Two advisory linter rules make the shape visible in the tool result the
moment it starts to drift: incident-log-shape (PR/issue-number density in
prose) and references-sprawl (>60 reference files), the latter also run
on references/ writes. On the real before/after: the old skill trips both,
the consolidated one trips neither.

f1ccf436a2 feat(web): Perplexity Search API as a web_search + web_extract backend
Adds plugins/web/perplexity — a keyed-only WebSearchProvider over httpx:

- search: POST https://api.perplexity.ai/search (documented Search API),
  search_context_size=low so `snippet` stays description-sized;
  results[].snippet -> description, max_results capped at the API's 20.
- extract: POST /sdk/content/snippets — the query-relevant page-excerpt
  route behind `pplx content snippets` (the CLI's `content fetch` is
deprecated upstream). web_extract has no query, so the URLs' path words
serve as the relevance query; per-URL `error` entries survive a 200.
- Wired into the same touchpoints as the other keyed vendors: legacy
backend set + credential ladder + availability probe (web_tools),
  registry preference walk, OPTIONAL_ENV_VARS, `hermes config`/status/
dump key lists, nous_subscription direct-credential detection, setup
  summary, test conftests, docs.

Not a keyless-ring member (Perplexity has no anonymous tier). Related
closed PRs #9192 / #23981 / #45225 predate the plugin ABC.

4441a2a28d docs(agents): split AGENTS.md into root + per-area files (≤8k each, the subdirectory-hint cap)
Root AGENTS.md 100,797 → 29,295 chars: what applies everywhere (invariants, rubric, footprint ladder, layout + shape rules, commit/PR, testing) plus a routing table. Area rules move to agent/, hermes_cli/, gateway/, tools/, plugins/, tui_gateway/, web/, skills/, cron/, apps/desktop/src/ AGENTS.md (3–9k each; ceiling is now 32k after d61cff60e3, target ~8k). Long-form process-identity and skin key tables go to website/docs/developer-guide/cli-internals.md. Zero rule loss; map in /tmp/rf/agents_md_zero_loss.md. Stale Bot Mode test paths corrected to apps/desktop/src/plugins/hermes-bots/*.test.ts.

0ee0bd903e fix(icons): commit linux-truth regenerated icons; drop harvest temp
resvg-py 0.4.0 rasterizes identically per-host but the committed set was
generated on Windows (22440-byte icon.png) while the freshness lane runs
on linux (24200). Harvested linux regeneration via a temp artifact step,
committed it (all 23 targets now match linux output), reverted the temp.

0a5164cebe compat(plugins): tell users which installed plugins break on 2026-09-14, and stop loading them after
hermes_cli/plugin_compat.py is now the single source of truth for the compat window:
  COMPAT_REMOVAL_DATE = 2026-09-14; scan_plugin() statically finds `from F import n`, `import F` + `F.n`,
alias forms and string targets against compat_manifest.json; compat_report() aggregates over the user's
ENABLED external (non-bundled) plugins; disable_reason() decides the loader's skip.

Surfaces (all read from that one report):
  * CLI: yellow block under the banner naming plugins + date + `hermes plugins compat` (red + DISABLED after)
  * `hermes plugins compat [--json] [path]`: file:line, old -> new per hit; exit 1 while anything remains;
`path` lets a plugin author scan their own checkout
  * `hermes doctor`: "Plugin import paths (removed Sep 14, 2026)" section next to the xAI retirement check
  * `hermes update`: post-update notice alongside the FTS/curator notices
  * Desktop: compat_report() writes HERMES_HOME/.plugin-compat-report.json (deleted when clean); Electron
shows ONE warning dialog per distinct report after the backend is up and persists the dismissal in
userData/plugin-compat-dismissed.json. A new affected plugin, or the date passing, is a new report.

From the date, PluginManager skips a hitting external plugin before importing it, with the reason in
LoadedPlugin.error ("uses N import path(s) removed on 2026-09-14; run `hermes plugins compat` ...") — the
same path a plugin with a broken register() takes, so nothing else is affected. Escape hatch:
plugins.allow_deprecated_imports: true (config_defaults), which only helps until the compat commit is
actually reverted.

Docs: COMPAT_MANIFEST.md (removal date, what-happens table, author instructions), plugin dev guide section.
Tests: tests/test_plugin_compat_notice.py (scanner forms, report scope, date gate + escape hatch, summary
text, report file lifecycle, loader skip via a real PluginManager), electron/plugin-compat-notice.test.ts
(show once, re-show on a different set or on the date passing, malformed file ignored).

Live A/B on this box with a demo plugin on old paths: before the date it loads and the banner/doctor/report
name it; with today=2026-09-14 it is skipped with the reason and the banner turns red; with the escape
hatch it loads again.

096e4dbe68 fix(icons): regenerate all 23 targets from icon-master.svg (audit RED: --check drift)
generate_icons.py --check was RED on 23 targets — committed files
diverged from icon-master.svg output (large stale binaries: logo.png
1.3MB→60KB, icon.icns 1.5MB→94KB). Regenerated via the single-master
pipeline; --check now passes. Also gates the icons-freshness-check CI
lane that ci.yaml calls.

e6c7d4a555 feat(gateway): HermesGateway service verbs + updater Restart-Service + docs
Tasks 3-5 of the gateway-as-MSIX-service plan (settled: user-context,
1903 floor, config-only demand-start):

- hermes gateway service on|off|status (new subcommand group): 'on' =
  SCM automatic-at-logon + StartService + gateway.service config
persisted; 'off' = demand-start + graceful StopService (the
  frontend's planned-stop-marker path); 'status' = SCM state + the
  config key, with a running-but-unpersisted warning. Windows-only
guard; friendly not-installed answers (source installs).
- Task 3 audit resolved: the gateway's DEFAULT restart_drain_timeout
is 0 (opt-out, clamped at runtime) and the frontend caps its stop
  deadline at 25s < the SCM's 30s WaitToKillServiceTimeout — every
reachable config lands inside the window; the cap IS the contract
(already unit-tested in the Task 1 suite).
- Updater SCM branch (Task 4): _prepare_profile_gateway_update_restart
consults _try_scm_service_restart FIRST — sealed MSIX install +
HermesGateway service RUNNING → Restart-Service (graceful drain →
SCM respawn, no detached watcher, no process scan: the first
concrete piece of #92091's world on windows, arrived via the SCM).
Every other machine shape falls through to the ordinary paths,
byte-identical behavior. Never fails the update over a service
  lookup.
- gateway.service config key: DEFAULT_CONFIG entry (False — the
config-only posture), deep-merge, no version bump.
- docs: website gateway-service.md (what it is, on/off/status, the
graceful-stop story, update handoff, uninstall = service removal,
  platform notes) + sidebar.

tests: 8 hermetic verb/updater tests (status-not-installed, on
configures-starts-persists, off demand-stops-persists, unknown
action, updater gated on sealed+running, not-sealed no-touch,
stopped-service fall-through, posix guard) — the pm-ensure
function-binding trap hit AGAIN and is patched via importlib. Full
sweep: 89 passed 0 failed.

7f8917a36d feat(docs+memory): switching-to-source page; honcho pin derived from pyproject
- website switching-to-source.md (W11, the docs rewrite's missing
  page): the desktop/installer/docker/nix → source-checkout move,
built around the one invariant (data lives in HERMES_HOME, never in
the app — nothing is copied, nothing is lost); backup, clone, uv
sync --extra all, run, switch back; docker/nix variants; a
  what-moves-where table; troubleshooting (double-gateway, module
  errors). Sidebar-wired under Using Hermes.
- honcho cli: the 'Install it now? (honcho-ai==2.2.0)' prompt
hardcoded the pin — message-only (the install path was already
pm.sync_venv lock-owned), but it drifted on every bump. Now derived
from the pyproject honcho extra (single authority, 'latest' on
lookup failure — never blocks the prompt). The pm-clean plan's 2.6
remainder; the ANCHORS/pyproject extras test half of 2.6 had
  already healed (16/16 green).

W8.1 audited: OBSOLETE — the Dockerfile 'playwright' hits are comments
documenting that pm stages the pinned chromium instead; no live
invocation to delete.

1fc1d054af feat(receipts): update receipts embed the pm sync sections + plugin docs
- finalize_update_receipt folds the newest pm sync receipt's
  venv_rebuild / plugin_bisect / feature_list into the update receipt
(pm_-prefixed) so ONE latest.json carries the whole update story —
the embedding contract both receipt plans declared. Additive,
exception-swallowing (an embed failure never breaks the update
  receipt).
- pm/receipt: _write_rotated mkdirs itself instead of depending on
_receipt_dir()'s mkdir side effect (found via the embed tests — a
patched dir lambda made writes FileNotFoundError under the OSError
  swallow).
- website plugins.md: the three new verbs (check-updates, adopt,
  trust-update-url) + the provenance/cadence/auto_apply/trust flow,
  user-facing.

tests: embed happy/absent/failure-isolated; existing receipt suites
green.

2b55ded1ac perf(state): keep delegate-child transcripts out of the trigram FTS index (schema v30)
On a fan-out-heavy install state.db reached 3.4 GB; 70% of message bytes
belonged to subagent sessions, and every one of those rows was also
indexed into messages_fts_trigram, whose shadow tables are ~2.6x the
text they cover (1,029 MB trigram vs 350 MB standard FTS on that DB).
session_search already hides source='subagent' sessions, so the
substring/CJK index bought nothing for them.

Extend the v29 cron exclusion: the messages_fts_trigram_src view, the
three sync triggers, and both deferred-backfill INSERT...SELECTs now use
one shared predicate (FTS_TRIGRAM_SESSION_SQL / fts_trigram_session_sql)
that skips sessions with source IN ('cron','subagent') or the
$._delegate_from creation marker (children spawned under a gateway turn
inherit the gateway's source). Compression/branch continuations carry
parent_session_id without the marker and stay indexed. Child rows remain
canonical in `messages` and fully indexed in the standard messages_fts
word index; explicit source_filter=['subagent'] CJK searches route to
LIKE like cron already did.

The v29 migration gate becomes `< 30` and reuses the same view-swap +
admitted rebuild, so existing installs purge historical child postings
once on open. Fresh DB with 2,000 x 2 KB child messages: 22.4 MB ->
12.5 MB (trigram shadow 10.09 MB -> 0.02 MB).

80fae22bf5 fix(lsp): share one pyright process across git worktrees via workspaceFolders
Multi-root servers (pyright) are keyed by server_id; a file whose resolved
root is new for a running client is attached with
workspace/didChangeWorkspaceFolders instead of spawning another server.
Single-root servers keep the (server_id, workspace_root) key and behavior.
A profiled fan-out across ~30 worktrees ran 30-60 pyright processes
(~8.7 GB); the same fan-out now runs one.

Add "muse" to both tuples; Claude and every other family are unchanged.

cfa7e72c9e fix(models): correct contributor guard, 1M context, docs for muse-spark-1.3
- model_data_policy_guard: name the triggering -contributor model instead
of hardcoded 1.2; per-version verified price tables (1.3 standard
$1.25/$4.25 via OpenRouter live metadata; cached figures 1.2-only)
- model_metadata: muse-spark-1.3 + muse-spark family at 1048576 (OpenRouter
  verified 2026-09-02) with pre-catalog stale-cache keys so 256K-fallback
  sessions self-heal
- docs: contributor-tier notes cover 1.2 + 1.3
- tests: 1.3 guard regression, muse stale-cache guard, live-catalog mirror
gains 1.3-contributor-free (confirmed on live relay)

143 tests pass (guard, selection guards, opencode catalog, model_metadata);
ruff clean.

Add meta/muse-spark-1.3 and meta/muse-spark-1.3-contributor to the

opencode-zen / opencode-free / opencode-go floors, the setup-wizard
shortlist, and regenerate the hosted model catalog.
