Merge origin/main at 8e806ae1b2. Keep native helper compilation in
prepareDesktopNativeDependencies and keep bundling/beforePack consume-only.
Bind helper sources and headers into preparation identities and cache keys;
copy admitted executable resources beside node_modules and preserve signing
semantics in product freshness checks.
Verified desktop typecheck, focused native/packaging/UI and gateway/cache
tests, and the real Linux preparation/copy/Xvfb execution path. Incoming
upstream anti-slop findings remain unchanged; no baseline was raised.
The 6-target cold->warm smoke existed to prove setup-pm still cold-boots
when its code changes without a lock bump, and to reach linux-arm64,
darwin-x64 and win32-arm64. Both are now covered without a dedicated
workflow:
* The tools cache key hashes pm/**, the action itself and
scripts/ci/setup_toolchain.py, not only pm/lock.json. A provisioning
change misses the cache on every lane that uses the action, so the
cold path runs where the tests already are.
* tests-os gains a windows-11-arm leg running the same windows-marked
files (tests/pm carries ten of them). It needs the ARM64 build deps
because several extras build from sdist, and fewer workers on the
4-core runner.
The Windows SDK adapter test is the one thing left that no other lane
ran natively; it keeps its two Windows runners under
windows-bundle-sdk.yml, path-triggered on the signing scripts. The
run-scoped cache cleanup workflow and its script only served the smoke
and go with it.
Conflicts resolved toward the PM model: main's lazy_deps/update_cmd_deps/npm
stamp machinery stays deleted (PM + scripts/build/node-deps.mjs own it), the
systemd ExecStop stop-mark rides the installation launcher, legacy
linux_only/macos_only/windows_only markers are rewritten to platforms(), and
finalize_update_receipt carries pending manual-serve obligations forward
again (lost when the ContextVar receipt rewrite crossed c0aa3ce354).
Test harness: the real-home I/O guard exempts /proc/<pid>/fd metadata reads
(deleted-WAL holder scans) and run_tests.sh drops ~/.hermes PATH entries so
shutil.which() cannot trip the tripwire.
The advisory profile-scope lint had no pattern for the shape behind #115635 (a module
CONSTANT = _float_env(...)/os.environ.get("HERMES_...") of a var gateway/run.py bridges from
config.yaml). Fires on origin/main's `_RECONNECT_ATTENTION_AFTER_SECONDS`; 6 advisory hits on
head, all env-only knobs or already keyed per home (agent/redact.py).
Resolved toward the branch: PM provisions uv/python (main's install.ps1 uv-shim
salvage + its test and workflow steps dropped), the shim re-exec stays retired,
package.json carries no electron-builder block (afterExtract identity stamp wired
into electron-builder.config.cjs instead; after-pack.mjs keeps signing only),
Desktop workspace-deps helpers stay retired. Main's scratch-dir bootstrap
(export_scratch_tmp_env) is taken and re-run after profile resolution.
Hermes now routes scratch space through HERMES_HOME/cache/scratch (exported as
TMPDIR), so every production path that still spelled out /tmp bypassed that and
kept teaching the agent the habit. Fallbacks in tool_result_storage,
code_execution_tool, process_registry, the ACP child HOME, mini_swe_runner's
local cwd, and the CI/profiling scripts now use tempfile.gettempdir(); shell
installers fall back to $TMPDIR (then HERMES_HOME) when mktemp is missing, and
repro/eval shells use `mktemp -d -t`. User-facing help text and sample payloads
(hermes send, approvals test, hooks test, voice-mode WSL hints, meet_bot debug
line) no longer suggest /tmp.
Container-side paths (mini_swe_runner docker cwd, sandbox base env, remote
sync tarballs) keep the literal because they name the sandbox filesystem,
not the host.
uv is internal to PM (never on a user's PATH), so env_for() left it out of
the exported PATH once the toolchain roots stopped listing python itself.
The fresh-install, pm-toolchain cold and worker-contract suites drive real
uv through shutil.which("uv") and failed with "requires real uv".
A secondary-owned Yuanbao bot keyed its per-group dispatch queue and RecallGuard
entries with the free `build_session_key(source)` — no profile, so `agent:main:` —
while `handle_message` popped under `agent:<owner>:`. Two derivations of one
identity: the group queue was shared across bots and the RecallGuard entries
leaked. Weixin, Telegram's photo batch, Slack's thread key and Raft's wake key
each carried their own copy of the call as well.
Every adapter-side key now comes from `BasePlatformAdapter._source_session_key`
/ `_event_session_key` (owner namespace, runner-seeded isolation flags, and —
after the RoutingIdentity PR — the pinned identity). Weixin's `_text_batch_key`
override is deleted (the base does the same). Slack's thread key reads the
isolation flags from the adapter config the runner seeds, not the store's.
Lint: pattern P32 in `scripts/ci/profile_scope_patterns.json` flags
`build_session_key(` / `SessionSource(` under `gateway/platforms/**` and
`plugins/platforms/**` except `platforms/base.py`; the checker gains an optional
`path_regex` per pattern. Advisory, like every other pattern.
Phase 2 of #88715.
`import pm.ensure` bound the submodule onto the package, shadowing the facade's
`pm.ensure()` function for every later caller in the process (photon's sidecar
start hit `'module' object is not callable`). The module is pm.install now; the
function keeps its name. The facade resolves through `__import__` rather than
`importlib.import_module` so a test that patches import_module globally does not
break attribute access on pm.
tools/lazy_deps.py returns to the 16-line stop_for_relaunch shim the branch wrote
(an origin/main merge had replaced it with main's 775-line implementation); the
project-metadata tests follow. update_cmd re-exports the four old_updater_deps
names the shim tests resolve through hermes_cli.update_cmd.
hermes_cli.runtime_paths (venv generations, selection, activation) moves to
pm.environments, and gains venv_bin_dir / venv_python / project_python. Every
in-tree caller asks pm for an interpreter now; pm no longer reaches back into
hermes_cli for its own environment layout (pm.packages, pm.extras, pm.ensure,
pm.paths imported hermes_cli.runtime_paths). The three open-coded
"Scripts/python.exe or bin/python" ladders in pm collapse onto venv_python.
hermes_constants.venv_python_path / venv_bin_dir and hermes_cli.runtime_paths
stay as frozen-updater-surface shims only (tests/compat/old_updater_surface.json).
To keep the boot path light, pm/__init__ resolves its facade lazily (PEP 562)
and pm.registry loads the built-in package definitions on first read instead of
at import: `import hermes_bootstrap` now loads pm + pm.environments only (25ms,
was 37ms with the eager facade dragging in the downloader). The stripped-payload
fixtures that ship only pre-import files keep working for the same reason.
Also restores two frozen-surface re-exports the F401 sweep dropped
(banner._github_compare_behind, cua_backend.resolve_cua_driver_cmd).
Four origin/main merges brought back `linux_only` / `macos_only` /
`windows_only` marks in 41 test files, along with the pre-platforms()
versions of scripts/ci/list_os_marked_tests.py and check_os_marker_fakes.py.
Because the legacy names are no longer registered, pytest treated them as
unknown marks — a warning — so every Windows- or macOS-only test RAN on
Linux (test_local_runtime_recovery.py tripped the live-system kill guard).
Rewrite the marks, restore the platforms()-aware CI scripts (keeping main's
os.walk fix for vanishing __pycache__ dirs), drop the stale _BASELINE entries,
and make the conftest reject the retired marks outright so the next merge
cannot resurrect them silently.
Reconcile plugin declarations and validation through PM's atomic generation publication; preserve external runtimes, target markers, and conflict refusal. Keep one source-update completion owner and port upstream lifecycle changes to the PM desktop/runtime paths.
The termux-main pool deletes a package's previous archive when it rebuilds, so
the runtime-lib pin table and the bionic lock rows rot without warning. The last
rotation broke a build on eight rows at once, and the stager's concurrent
downloads only surfaced whichever 404 won the race.
pm now owns the pin table it repairs: scripts/termux/runtime_libs.json moves to
pm/termux_runtime_libs.json, so pins live in pm/ and scripts consume them — the
direction scripts/ci/archive_inputs.py already reads pm/lock.json in.
`hermes pm update --termux` repins exactly the rows whose archive the pool has
replaced, hashing each replacement against the index SHA256 before writing
url/version/hash together. `--check` reports without writing and exits 1, so a
retired pin can fail a cheap preflight instead of a payload build.
It is a repair, not an update: an alive pin is never moved, because a repin can
land a rebuilt library under a moved soname and the table is the payload's
recursive DT_NEEDED closure. A pin whose package the pool has dropped outright
is reported and left alone. `--termux` runs alone — names/--target/--uv/--npm
are ignored, since repairing foreign-target pins is not a version resolution.
Verified: `pm update --termux --check` against the live pool reports 89 rows
served; a table deliberately pinned to the retired libiconv 1.18-1 repins to
1.19 with the pool's hash through the real network path; 19 new tests; the
tests/pm, tests/ci and tests/scripts suites have the same failure set as the
base commit (91 pre-existing Windows environment failures, none new).
The autouse fixture neutralised gateway discovery and the systemd branch
but not the launchd one. On a macOS host `_restart_macos_launchd_gateways`
derives its labels from the profile layout, so a default profile alone
hands it `ai.hermes.gateway`, the label never "comes back", and nine
unrelated update tests exit 1 with "Update incomplete". No OS is faked:
the seam is stubbed the same way test_update_fleet_restart_pending does.
scripts/check_profile_scope_patterns.py runs the validated hazard regexes in
scripts/ci/profile_scope_patterns.json (18 of the 31 campaign patterns: every one has a scope_hint
and hits <= 50 sites on main; the wider ones are review greps, not lint) against the lines added
vs the PR base and prints file:line, pattern id/class and why. Always exits 0: most shapes have
legitimate sites (a standalone `hermes -p x` process where environ IS the profile), so the
reviewer reads each finding against its scope hint. Wired into lint.yml beside the public-surface
diff with continue-on-error.
Proof: the pre-fix tools/bot_relay.py (`env = dict(os.environ)`, before the served_profile_child_env
change) is flagged as P05/C2; the fixed file and this branch's diff vs main report 0 findings.
Test: a fixture with the hazard is flagged on the right lines, the scoped-builder version is not,
and the line filter hides hits outside the added range.
The CI cache barely ever restored anything useful, for four independent
reasons found in live run logs and the fork's cache store:
- `uv cache prune --ci` (setup-pm/prune) discards downloaded wheels before
the save, so the snapshot carried only source-built wheels — the next
run "restored" it and still cold-downloaded everything. Upstream main's
logs showed the end state: a 209KB stub cache exact-hitting forever.
- Tool-only jobs (icons-freshness etc.) auto-saved a 1.5KB empty uv cache
under the production exact key; caches are immutable, so the stub won
forever and blocked real saves.
- The npm cache key had no restore-keys, so one lockfile bump missed the
exact key and every npm job went cold.
- `2efa4ff94f` deleted the electron-builder toolchain save but left the
assemble job restoring `eb2-` — a fossil nobody regenerates; assembly
cold-downloads winCodeSign/ATS/dotnet on every release.
Changes:
- pm/cache_lock.py: move prune_uv_cache_to_lock out of
scripts/bundles/native.py (which re-exports it); the lock-exactness
contract now serves both the bundle ship gate and CI caches.
- pm.build_env learns --exact-lock --lock-source: prune cache entries the
project uv.lock cannot resolve, keeping lock-required downloaded wheels
(unlike --ci). Refuses --ci/--prune-cache combinations.
- setup-pm: python-cache auto-save now requires extras (no stubs from
tool-only jobs); key drops the prune flag and bumps to v3 — pruned and
unpruned saves share one namespace since both are lock-exact; pre-save
pruning switched from --ci to --exact-lock; npm cache gains a
lockfile-agnostic restore prefix.
- save-pm-cache: same exact-lock prune before explicit saves.
- desktop-bundled-release: build legs (cache-mode: write) restore+save the
electron-builder toolchain under eb3- keyed on the locked builder
version; assemble restores the same namespace; the dead default-cache
resolution step is removed (assembly resolves no electron artifacts).
- cleanup_pm_toolchain_caches.py: match v2 and v3 smoke keys.
Validation: tests/scripts/test_bundle_native.py 11/11 (incl. both
lock-prune gates), tests/pm failures identical before/after the diff,
tests/scripts/test_bundle_payload.py 5/5, tests/ci cleanup 3/3,
tests-js setup-pm-post 1/1 and the three setup-pm-cache contract tests
updated and green (6 failures in that file pre-date this diff and are
drift between the workflow and its stale assertions); pm.build_env
--exact-lock E2E against a real uv cache copy pruned 3 stale entries and
kept the rest.
The e2e-screen-record action installed ffmpeg through three different
OS package managers (apt, brew, winget). winget is the flaky leg on
windows-11-arm and serves an x64-gyan build that runs emulated on ARM;
choco's community package wraps the same gyan x64 zip, so a choco
fallback would not fix either problem. PM already ships a locked,
sha256-pinned ffmpeg (martin-riedl posix, BtbN win32 including a NATIVE
winarm64 build), so the recording action now verifies ffmpeg on PATH
instead of installing it, and the pinned binary rides the same
tools-cache as node/python.
- setup-pm learns a `packages` input (extra PM tools beyond the
toolchain roots, e.g. ffmpeg) threaded through setup_toolchain.py's
prepare/install/archive-inputs phases; the tools-cache key gains an
extra-packages fragment so existing keys stay byte-identical.
- The six chat-driver jobs pass `packages: ffmpeg` to setup-pm.
- e2e-screen-record drops the apt/brew/winget install steps, the
ffmpeg actions/cache steps and the save-cache input; Xvfb (headless
linux) and the macOS replayd-approval hack stay.
- The "Install locked chat driver dependencies" step installs only the
tests-js workspace with --omit=dev instead of the whole apps/desktop
tree: the drivers need @playwright/test, zod (previously a phantom
hoisted from @assistant-ui/react), js-yaml and semver only. 64 pure
packages in ~2s vs ~1800 including electron-builder and native
builds; the tree-shaken node_modules runs the real driver modules
(verified by importing desktop-chat-smoke.ts and update-window-chat
end to end).
- tests pin the new contracts; tests/install/README.md updated.
tests/contracts -> tests/tui_gateway/contracts (tree-layout rule: tests mirror a source
package). test_rpc_params_cannot_spoof_runtime_artifacts: forged owner_transport /
owner_session_record / owner_token keys are now refused at the wire (4000 + key path)
instead of silently dropped before the handler; the invariant (no steer reaches the
agent) is unchanged and asserted directly.
215 methods, 13 server→client requests and 67 notifications now have Pydantic
contracts under tui_gateway/contracts/<topic>.py, rendered to
apps/shared/src/gateway-contract.generated.ts (616 types) and
gateway-contract.openrpc.json. tests/contracts/test_generated.py pins both
files to an in-memory regeneration and asserts catalog completeness from the
CODE side (every registered handler / emitted event / sent request has a
contract, nothing orphaned). scripts/ci/classify_changes.py runs the Python
lane when either generated file changes.
Phantom fields the hand-typed TS carried and no emitter ever set:
tool.start.todos, error.reason, voice.transcript.voice_stopped.
Dependency acquisition during packaging left native wheels and packager
inputs outside the pre-build cache save. Compose PM and existing providers
into a preparation phase, then require builds to consume admitted inputs.
Share native preparation with PM Bundle. Keep path-bound environments and
signing outputs separate from reusable caches. Use read-only cache tokens
for commit builds and preserve the one-command local build path.
Verify pinned tools through PM, probe PTYs under the prepared Electron,
and supply dmgbuild through a build-only PM package. Resolve bundled tool
stores from their payload manifest so relocation preserves discovery.
Validation: focused Python and JS tests, checkJs, Ruff, Windows checks,
anti-slop, cache relocation, and network-denied Linux AppImage builds.
Relocated runtime smoke passed with NixOS host libraries supplied.
Native Windows/macOS signing and live GitHub cache behavior remain untested.
`scripts/run_tests.sh tests/<dir>/` is how a change gets its regression
coverage run, so a test filed under the wrong directory is a test nobody
runs when that code changes. Two kinds of drift had accumulated.
Parallel directories for one source package, folded into the mirror:
tests/acp -> tests/acp_adapter (its __init__/conftest move with it)
tests/cli -> tests/hermes_cli (prompt_toolkit fixture merged into
hermes_cli/conftest.py)
tests/run_agent -> tests/agent (backoff fixture becomes
agent/conftest.py)
tests/relay -> tests/gateway/relay
tests/state -> tests/hermes_state
246 loose files at tests/ root, routed by the package they import/patch:
hermes_cli, hermes_state, agent, gateway, tools, plugins, tui_gateway, cron.
Installer and desktop-update script tests go to tests/scripts/{install,
desktop_update}/. 43 tests of root-level modules (batch_runner, utils,
hermes_constants, packaging) stay at the root.
Filenames drop their issue numbers (95 files: test_89315_x.py -> test_x.py);
the number stays in the module docstring where it has context.
Collisions: test_cli_skin_integration.py existed in both tests/ and tests/cli
with different subsets — merged into one (10 tests, all kept);
run_agent/test_pre_compress_memory_context.py -> agent/..._handoff.py;
tests/test_account_usage.py -> agent/test_account_usage_fetch.py;
tests/test_web_server.py -> hermes_cli/test_web_server_ws_ping.py.
Deleted: test_minisweagent_path.py (empty since PR #2804),
test_model_picker_scroll.py (tested a private copy of the logic, imported
nothing), test_process_loop_event_loop_warning.py (asserted asyncio behaviour,
imported nothing from Hermes).
Repo-root path arithmetic (Path(__file__).parents[N], dirname chains) is
bumped for the 202 files that changed depth and verified by evaluating every
such expression against the new location. classify_changes' desktop-updater
lane prefix, tests-os.yml's ignore glob and every in-tree path comment follow
the moves. tests/test_tests_tree_layout.py keeps the tree from drifting back.
Two CI reds from the previous commits.
benchmark_browser_eval.py moved from scripts/ (exempt) to evals/ and its
bare shutil.which("npx") tripped test_no_unreviewed_bare_managed_runtime_
lookups. evals/ are standalone user-invoked benchmark programs, the same
class as scripts/ and skills/, and three other eval files already call
which() the same way; the guard just never saw them because the harness
that carried them lived under scripts/. Exempt the directory.
list_os_marked_tests.py used Path.rglob, which raises FileNotFoundError
when a __pycache__ directory disappears mid-scan (a sibling job in the
same workspace). The managed-runtime guard already switched to os.walk
for the identical TOCTOU; do the same here. Same output, sorted.
_PY_SKIP includes apps/, so a change to apps/shared/src/gateway-events.json
(or apps/desktop/src/lib/desktop-slash-registry.json) alone classified as
python:false and tests/tui_gateway/test_gateway_event_contract.py — the
only side that checks emitters against the JSON — never ran. "Either side
drifting turns both red" was true locally and false in CI for that
direction. A table of cross-language contract files now forces python:true
alongside frontend; two classifier rows pin it (they fail without the
allowlist).
Keep desktop rollback in staged publication instead of restoring backups
inside a candidate directory that will be discarded.
Use the npm tag endpoint, let the downloader own archive verification,
and ensure CI toolchain roots without repeating dependency verification.
Remove an unused resolver input and replace overlapping tests with
fault-proven lifecycle coverage.
Verified with the scoped Python gate and before-pack tests. Native
Windows/macOS update execution and the full suite were not run.
Run historical updater completion in a fresh interpreter so cached imports
cannot revive retired dependency installers. Share Git and ZIP completion,
carry receipt and recovery state, and preserve child exit status.
Route plugin admission, binary acquisition, desktop launch and build paths
through PM. Replace redundant helpers and tests with real worker, package,
publication and launch checks. Keep the shipped compatibility surface fixed.
Targeted Python and desktop checks pass. Native update journeys and fresh
production image qualification remain pending. This is a checkpoint before
those acceptance runs.
Merge ethie/shared-product-builders with the CI dependency cache and native Windows setup work. Preserve UTF-8 diagnostics in the shared Python environment runner. Pass a persistent cache through isolated native staging and PM-runtime construction. Reuse one Windows prerequisite installer from source setup, native adapters, and CI, preserving Rust homes across HOME isolation.
Verified 85 targeted Python tests (5 host skips), 18 JavaScript tests, workflow validation, and scoped lint/typecheck. On native Windows ARM64, five prerequisite contracts passed and the actual shared provider reused OpenSSL, compiled its header with MSVC, and retained Rust under isolated HOME. Full signed distribution builds and live Actions cache transfer remain CI verification.
Build TUI, web, desktop UI and runnable agent products from explicit
prepared inputs. Keep dependency preparation separate from distribution
packaging, with PM and native builds sharing uv environment construction.
Docker copies compiled frontend products instead of build dependencies.
Nix retains uv2nix environments and consumes shared assembly through store
references. Native desktop and Termux use the same launcher and frontend
contracts. Preserve the independent PM runtime and source imports from
arbitrary working directories.
Keep failed frontend builds from replacing the previous product, reject
source/output overlap, and bound dependency-process output draining.
Include hermes_wisdom in the Nix wheel: real CLI smoke tests exposed its
missing package declaration on the base revision too.
Verified focused Python and JavaScript suites, Docker build/runtime checks,
Nix desktop and CLI/ACP checks, standalone TUI and packaged Electron PTY,
and real full-Chromium interaction. Native signed installers, Android device
installation and the full repository suite remain CI verification.
Activation reaches plugin discovery before the application dependencies
exist. Give PM its own locked Python project and runtime so it can install
or repair the application without importing that dependency tree.
Keep PM outside the application workspace. A shared uv workspace resolves
the application graph and cannot provide this isolation. Route mutations
through an isolated worker and preserve transaction callbacks, cancellation,
custom package registrations, and correlated receipts.
Use the same runtime builder for source installs and packaged payloads.
Keep offline wheelhouse support in that builder. Nix builds the independent
PM lock as a separate derivation. Refuse lazy-disabled bootstrap before
installing tools or dependencies.
Move first-party YAML readers and writers to ruamel. Keep the application
lock's transitive PyYAML requirements for third-party packages.
Verification:
- Focused canonical Python suite: 177 passed, 1 host-gated skip.
- Electron backend probes: 12 passed. Electron typecheck passed.
- Both uv locks, scoped lint, Bash syntax, and whitespace checks passed.
- Cold activation, corrupt-app repair, offline staging, and relocation ran.
- Built and exercised the Nix PM runtime and standalone YAML merge script.
Six broader caller test files retain the same 24 failing test IDs as an
archive of HEAD. The existing real-home guard blocks those tests before
they can exercise the affected paths. No full-suite pass is claimed.
Native Windows signing and full Bionic package execution remain unverified.
Termux removes old package files, so a pinned URL and hash do not keep
build inputs available. Preserve the exact bytes without changing pins.
Archive every PM HTTP artifact and the Termux runtime inputs by SHA256.
CI reads R2 first. Only a missing object permits an upstream download,
hash verification, immutable upload, and verified readback. Seed the
actual toolchain and payload stores before their consumers run.
Use the public archive as a pinned fallback in PM, bootstrap installers,
and Nix fetchers. Keep network retries bounded and report attempted URLs.
Keep publication credentials in protected CI jobs, not installed clients.
Verification:
- 283 targeted tests passed; five POSIX tests skipped on Windows.
- All 87 preserved Termux packages passed local archive miss/hit checks.
- Native ARM64 ripgrep installed through the mirror and ran successfully.
- Wheel import, workflow lint, Python lint, shell syntax, and pins passed.
Live R2 publication, POSIX tests, and Nix builds remain for native CI.
The real-byte archive checks used loopback HTTP, not the live bucket.
Keep downloads bound to their remote representation and publish through
atomic destination-local staging. Serialize shared partial ownership.
Keep explicit CA trust scoped to provider probes. Preserve checkpoint
history and edited files, validate all profile inputs before dependency
publication, and separate data removal from installed runtime ownership.
Exclude machine-specific PM state from portable transfers. Keep plugin
files and nested skill tools intact. Preserve native test isolation.
Focused native Windows receipts cover the individual repairs and their
integration. This commit does not claim a full-suite or release build.
Pin uv and uvx to the PM interpreter instead of ambient Python discovery.
A matching dependency stamp cannot prove that installed files still exist.
Repair now rebuilds the recorded workspace and lock in a fresh generation,
checks startup imports, and publishes the selection only after success.
Run startup recovery before dependency activation. Keep manual PM repair
reachable when the selected environment is damaged. Preserve plugin
selection, retry ownership, and the previous generation on failure.
Remove the separate pip, ensurepip, per-extra, and install-time quarantine
ladders. Keep orphan launcher restoration.
Verification: 717 targeted tests passed on native Windows ARM64, with
56 skipped. Ruff, diff checks, and the source-scoped compat check passed.
A disposable real Hermes install recovered deleted YAML and dotenv files,
then printed CLI help with exit 0. Its lock and stamp stayed unchanged.
The full suite and a release build were not run for this change.
Bring in the Python 3.14 runtime pins and wake-engine changes while
preserving the staged stable-release gate and review fixes.
The merge has no conflicts. Targeted tests on the existing Python 3.11
dev environment passed: 130 passed, 8 skipped. The lock check passed
with Python 3.14.7. Workflow lint and shell syntax checks also passed.
Full Python 3.14 runtime and native release acceptance remain for CI.
Run the entire CI workflow before Docker build and tests. Require Nix,
native payload smoke tests, install/update E2E and signed-package upgrade
acceptance before publishing. Keep Desktop Playwright E2E deferred.
Archive tested Docker images and signed bundle candidates with provenance
and hashes. Publishers consume those exact artifacts without rebuilding.
Advance stable channels only after all required publications succeed.
Keep canaries on their separate path and reject direct stable-builder
publication that bypasses the gate.
Move shared release transport, manifests and gates to Python. Keep native
Electron adapters in JS and share feed/MIME facts as JSON. Replace the
R2/feed JS implementation and move its protocol tests to Python.
Verified targeted Python and JS tests, real loopback transport and CLI
execution, temporary Git admission, workflow graph lint, and typechecks.
No live stable release was run. Native signing, package upgrades and real
registry/Store promotion still need their release-run receipts. Separate
services cannot promote atomically. A promotion failure keeps the run red.
pm python node: 3.14.7+20260901 (freshest python-build-standalone 3.14
build) for the 6 desktop targets; the bionic row moves from the third-party
TUR python3.11 deb to the official termux-main python_3.14.6-1 deb (which
lags PBS by one patch — pinned manually, documented). All 7 digests fetched
from the live sources (PBS release API + termux-main Packages index).
pm/packages.py: main_bin_rel python3.14, deb_package python, bionic fetch
constant, latest_versions guards bionic (no PBS build exists).
termux lane: PYTHON_ABI cp311->cp314, python3.11->python3.14 paths,
libpython3.11.so->3.14, TARGET_ENV 3.11.15->3.14.6 AND sys_platform
linux->android (CPython 3.13+ reports 'android', docs-verified) — linux-
gated markers no longer admit the termux target. runtime_libs.json needs no
change: every python 3.14.6-1 Depends is already staged.
CI: python-version/--python 3.11->3.14 across all 11 workflows incl. the
uv lockfile-check lane. Installers derive the minor from the lock already;
fallbacks bumped. Sandbox images nikolaik/python-nodejs:python3.11-nodejs20
-> python3.14-nodejs22 (tag exists). runtime_repair fall-forward cap now
tracks the <3.15 requires-python window. Docs/README python version claims
updated.
Independent review: a nonexistent base ref under --strict reported zero
drops and exited 0 (a mis-fetched CI job would look clean); the script now
verifies both refs and the merge-base and exits 2 otherwise. And a method
moved from a class into a mixin/base defined in the same module that the
class still derives from was reported as removed although the attribute
still resolves; public_methods now collects the methods REACHABLE on each
class through its in-module bases. Replay of #102117 at open: 1,703 names /
341 modules and 126 test defs / 52 files unchanged; methods 1,000 -> 951
(the 49 were in-module mixin extractions, i.e. the false positives).
Test: unresolvable ref -> exit 2 in both modes; a method extracted into an
in-module base is not reported.
The Sep 2026 whole-codebase refactor (PR #102117) opened with 1,703 public
top-level names dropped across 341 modules, 1,000 public/dunder methods in
166, and 126 `def test_` deleted in 52 files. Reviewers found ~30 of the
names by hand; the rest surfaced as post-merge rework: 10 commits restoring
symbols and facade re-exports, 6 restoring tests, and a qwen OAuth break
that passed import smoke because the caller used `module.attr`. Every one
was catchable in seconds; nothing ran the check because it did not exist.
scripts/ci/check_public_surface.py: AST diff of modules present on both
sides of merge-base..HEAD. Public top-level names (defs, classes,
assignments, imported/re-exported names), public and dunder methods of
top-level classes, and `def test_` counts per tests/ file. Deleted modules
and deleted test files are visible decisions and are not flagged; private
names are not flagged. Advisory (exit 0, prints the report) by default;
--strict exits 1 so a refactor brief or a CI lane can gate on it. Wired
into lint.yml as an advisory PR step next to the compat-pointer check.
Replayed on the refactor PR at open (63279301bcb..022785a541) it reports
exactly the figures above in 18 s; on this branch vs main it reports 0.
Test: a throwaway git repo with drops, private drops, a move-with-re-export,
a lost test def and a changed non-source module; asserts the exact report
and the advisory/strict exit codes.
Merge upstream 5e645791ac.
Retain the PM feature-flag owner and add upstream connection options.
Use the deny-only window-open policy while trusted external links keep
the existing IPC path. Keep both session-import and external-link copy.
Preserve captured timeout output when adding terminal yield handoff.
Quickstart tests patch the explicit upstream model-assignment owner.
Migrate incoming legacy OS markers to the branch's platforms gate.
Desktop renderer and Electron typechecks passed. Targeted Electron tests
passed (42 tests), Python conflict checks passed (26 tests, 3 skips),
and the plugin-compat import checker passed. CI owns the broad merge gate.
Prepare dependency generations before selecting them. Keep shipped tool
bytes separate from writable additions, and store facts beside their entries.
Validate proposed plugin sets before config publication. Restore the previous
config if the facts write fails.
Consolidate duplicate updater, backup, setup, and voice helpers. Repair
launcher selection, dependency consumers, download ownership, update feeds,
and native Windows process and file handling.
Verification: 206 changed/prior-failing Python files reported 4630 passed,
one failed, and 330 skipped. Fix the remaining Hindsight fixture boundary.
The final targeted rerun reported 234 passed and two skipped. The store
review regression batch reported 83 passed and one skipped. Desktop
TypeScript checks, 56 selected Electron tests, 24 release tests, and the
removed-import/compatibility guards passed.
This is an integration checkpoint, not full audit acceptance. The complete
Python suite has not run on this fixed tree. Crash-atomic plugin publication,
generation cleanup, receipt correlation, and packaged lifecycle acceptance
remain open in docs/pm-audit-status.md.
