hermes_cli/runtime_provider._getenv was a 4-line copy of get_secret(name,
default) or default; it becomes agent.secret_scope.get_secret_str (returns
default only when the secret is genuinely unset, still raises
UnscopedSecretError — a child's unscoped read is a spawn-site bug). The
runtime_provider_backends/_custom siblings call it directly instead of via
the origin module.
tools/tts_tool, tools/transcription_tools and tools/xai_http each carried an
identical get_env_value re-export kept "so tests can patch" it; the seam is
hermes_cli.config.get_env_value, read lazily at call time. Callers
(tts_streaming, tts_tool_providers, transcription_cloud, voice_client_config,
tools_config) go there directly; resolve_provider_secret already defaults to
it so the env_getter kwarg is gone. Tests repointed at the canonical; the two
tests that only proved the shim forwarded are deleted.
Behavior change: none.
Introduce the pm store: a unified, hash-verified package store that
replaces lazy_deps and the old installer's ad-hoc tool downloads.
Store tools are provisioned on PATH (ffmpeg, node/npm via pinned uv),
with a resumable 8-way downloader, verify() returning failure reasons,
and adopt() made EPERM-safe. chromium ships in the payload for every
target. The 3600-line install.sh is replaced by a staged bootstrapper
(heavy deps are pm's job after this); setup-hermes.sh, Dockerfile and
nix pin tables are rewired onto the store. Old install-script tests,
lazy_deps/managed_uv/build_info, and the ps1/bash installer test
batteries are removed with the machinery they tested.
Rebuilt from ethie/pm onto upstream/main (ac6c8028e0) after the
utf-8-sig sweep. 16 hot files (main also churned them) hand-merged:
platform adapters, main.py, electron/main.ts, tui_gateway/server.py,
cua_backend, installer-tests workflow, install.sh (full rewrite),
setup-hermes.sh, plugins doc.
Add isolated test where ensure('stt.mistral') raises FeatureUnavailable
but the raw mistralai.client.Mistral import succeeds, verifying the
transcription_tools.py fallthrough path introduced in the same PR.
Replace
aise ImportError(str(e)) with pass in the except Exception
handler of _import_edge_tts(), _import_elevenlabs(), and
_import_mistral_client() so packages installed via PYTHONPATH or Docker
layered filesystems still work when lazy_deps.ensure() raises.
Also fix the Mistral STT path in transcription_tools.py which only
caught ImportError, not FeatureUnavailable.
Adds 6 regression tests using sys.modules fixtures (no
builtins.__import__ patching).
