Use Perplexity for Nous-managed search, retaining Firecrawl for extract
and as a per-call search fallback. Explicit search overrides and direct
keys keep their own billing paths; fallback results are never cached.
When the managed route is selected but the Tool Gateway is unavailable
(unentitled account or no Nous token), search reports that selection
error instead of asking for a direct key the user never chose.
The managed search vendor is unannounced, so user-facing copy names the
capability rather than the vendor: status, portal and docs say "managed
web search", and the fallback annotation reads `managed_primary`. Direct-key
configuration docs are unchanged.
Routing, auth, payload, cache and entitlement regressions are covered
through real config loading and local HTTP.
Finish bootstrap uv before PM replaces its store entry. Keep failure
receipts stdlib-only and align the cryptography requirement and override
with the locked version.
Let bundle builders declare launch paths and update ownership. Remove
payload discovery, Store probing, and the unused develop command.
Derive Nix Python from the PM lock and share its provenance stamp.
Document setup, activation, optional dependencies, and distribution
ownership. Targeted Windows tests, relocated runtime launches, Electron
bundling, and bilingual docs builds pass. Native Nix and signed-package
acceptance remain CI gates.
Rip out the Termux/Android install lane: constraints-termux.txt,
psutil_android extraction, termux-browser tests, the apt install-method
lane in install.sh, termux api detection, and the TUI termux layout.
Zero added termux lines; 255 removed. System prompt and skill-utils
termux branches drop with the platform they served.
Rebuilt from ethie/pm (f8236a2d91, 7ad9f0c7a5, 8446c871b6, 82fb8e09d1)
onto the pm-store stack. 11 hot files hand-merged; test_code_execution
restored to branch-final (termux path assertions removed).
The Chinese README still told Windows users to install WSL2 and run
the Linux installer. Hermes now ships a native PowerShell install
script, so replace the outdated WSL2-only note with the direct
PowerShell one-liner.

`hermes portal` (no subcommand) now runs the one-shot Nous Portal onboarding
— OAuth login, switch provider to Nous, offer Tool Gateway — identical to
`hermes setup --portal` and the human-readable alias for
`hermes auth add nous --type oauth` (which still works).
The prior status default moves to `hermes portal info`; `status` is kept as a
hidden back-compat alias. `open`/`tools` subcommands are unchanged.
User-facing hints and docs (status.py, conversation_loop 401 guidance,
SystemPage, README, website docs + zh-Hans) now point at `hermes portal` /
`hermes portal info`. `--manual-paste` references keep the explicit auth
command since `hermes portal` does not expose that flag.
A small, self-contained section under 'Skip the API-key collection —
Nous Portal' explaining what Portal gives you (300+ models + Tool
Gateway), the one-shot install command, and how to inspect routing.
No buzzwords, no comparison tables, no overselling.
Positioned right after 'Getting Started' so it lands where someone
scanning the README has just seen the install steps and is deciding
their next move. Skippable by anyone who already knows their provider.
The line 'You can still bring your own keys per-tool whenever you
want' is the deliberate honesty rail — Portal is an option, not a
funnel. Existing per-provider language elsewhere in the README is
unchanged.
